Get Well Soon!
Get well soon! Read the card Covered with names Some bees buzzing a tulip. Followed by a message of support, thoughts and prayers And a signature A name giving proof to the message. Like a choir singing in unison Willing the moment An end to illness With knowing hope And seething despair Ready to sign mine With blank gaze Wondering what to say Possibly my final words Only enough space for a blurb What do you say to a man who For no reason I could find Cared for me With words and deeds A greeting smile A gentle embrace An inviting member of the village of my life No room for what I want to say How much it hurts to know they are suffering. Wondering with each breath. Palms now sweaty Still holding this card Like a hot potato in my hands. With a wink And a nod I said I love you man! I love you man! That’s what I said And wished I had Gazing into his eyes Holding his hand Had said it before Before his death bed.
